First and last time flying this airline. Seats don’t lean back, there are no charging ports, no screens and seats are very uncomfortable. But that is not why I’ll never fly this airline again:We were on flight 2322 from New York to LA, taking off 3 hours behind schedule: They told us there was bad weather when we approached LA, but this was definitely not true. (Winds 3-4 miles per hour, 13 max, all other flights were landing, including the other Spirit flight that was not delayed and took off from Newark a few minutes after ours). They diverted us to Las Vegas and waited another 2 hours before telling passengers what would happen next. They were waiting for an entirely new flight crew, which would take another 2 hours to find. The pilot and flight attendants went home. No compensation, no meal tickets, nothing. The full flight of passengers are now waiting for a new departure, tentatively scheduled for 12:30AM the next day. The flight attendants seemed flustered and frustrated, having to deal with unhappy passengers on their own because the pilot and airline would not tell us the truth- we still don’t know what really happened. The ground crew is wholly unprepared and downright unfriendly and unprofessional, talking to passengers as if they are children that need to be scolded. No passenger behaved out of line and all passengers were rightfully upset with the incredibly poor treatment by the airline, mainly lying to us and sticking with the story, even though it was clear to everyone the flight attendants and staff were uncomfortable with the obvious lie. Some passengers with small children decided to get together to get in on a van together because it is more reliable than the airline. We are no waiting and hoping the flight will fly at 12:30am in the morning Vegas time, 3:30am New York time. Babies are crying, a flight that was supposed to be 6 hours is turning into minimum 15 hours - if they actually find a middle of the night crew at the last minute. That is best possible outcome at this point but we - the passengers - are all in agreement that this is and has been a horrible experienceUpdate: the airline issued a $50 voucher, expiring in 2 months that can be used towards another flight. A very hollow gesture. The crew did arrive and the flight is scheduled to finally fly from Vegas, 12 hours after the original departure time in New York - shame on you Spirit.Update 2: our 2nd flight from Las Vegas to LA was also diverted to San Diego this time, becaus of fog. Again, other flight are landing at LAX, perhaps because the pilot is inexperienced they found him at the last minute, close to midnight on a Sunday. We are now 15 hours into this flight from New York and they are keeping us on the runway. We just want to get out - people are getting angry. We want out! We want our money back. It is unconscionable how Spirit treats customers
Worst customer service ever. Canceled our flight to Cancun only 4 hours beforehand and rebooked on a flight that left 2 hours earlier than we had planned. The new flight took us across the US and we ended getting in much later the next day, missing the first 12 hours of our vacation as a result. No apologies or explanation for the delay. Not even a text ahead of time to let us know. Luckily one of us had gotten there super early to notice the flight had been rebooked. Fast forward on our way home, the closing time for boarding showed 8:45 am. After quite the experience getting checked in with a super long line at their check in counters. We get to our gate at 8:41 am and they tell us its too late. Instead of apologizing for the long lines and the fact that they closed the doors early, the customer service rep proceeds to ignore us at first and then says you are too late. Frustrated we ask more and she continues to berate us about being late. She wont answer our questions and proceeds to type for what felt like a 20 minutes. Needless to say, we felt quite dispirited by spirit. They also charge an arm and leg for luggage and fees and the airline wireless and food add up on you including the fee for your seat. Beware, the price looks great online but after all the fees, hassle and losses in our trip, we should have bought a more expensive ticket and gotten a better experience on Delta.
Well, after hearing all those stories about Spirit, I thought my flight will be not that good. It was a round trip from Fort Lauderdale to Norfolk and back. Planes were on time, we even arrived earlier both times. Spirit employees were very nice.
One star is way too many for this airline. Horrible customer support. Delayed 5 hours with no updates of what was happening. Listened to 2 girls arguing, cursing, and fighting on the plane and the flight attendants continued giving them more too drink. Our luggage was lost and took hours to actually get ahold of somebody. Took a day in a half for us to actually hear where abouts of our luggage. A gentleman in a wheelchair asked to be pushed to where he needed to be and she said that was a liability for her and didn't even call anyone to assist this handicap gentleman. All in all a horrible experience!!!
Spirit review On June 7th, 2023, I flew to Oakland from DFW with Spirit Airlines. The male steward, Jonathan, was rude and had a pompous attitude. Every time anyone stood up to use the restroom, he would inform them that the seat belt sign is still on and going to the lavatory was done “at their own risk”. So when I finally needed to use the lavatory, he told me the same thing and because I was in the front seat, and had heard him tell every other person that same line, I didn’t reply to him. He then made a snarky sarcastic comment, “good talk!” Sorry, but did he expect me to negotiate this issue with him? Grab a cuppa, stand in the aisle, and talk over the fact that I needed to use the toilet? I was shocked to see him rolling his eyes at certain passengers, especially at a young lady with a service dog. On the return flight, I noticed more unprofessional conduct by your staff. Shaking heads, rolling eyes, and looks of disbelief at passengers! Don’t be rude, Spirit. Your reputation doesn’t allow you to afford it. It’s already in the gutter with popular memes like “if you fly Spirit, you might become one.” Without us passengers, you would be out of a job. Respect everyone and be sincere. You’re paid to do a job. Do it and do it with dignity. Otherwise, you’ll be out of business due to poor service and bad taste. Do better.
My father in law passed June 4th. My mother in law, 86 years old doesn't travel well due to age, and walker handicap, therefore we Inquired for her to take my seat, which has already been paid for, and I would drive home to Indiana. The airlines wouldn't even consider it. All I can say is there ARE other airline services, and I won't forget the inconsideration when looking for some plane tickets in the future. I hope other people will see this and reconsider their choices, as it could be their family in the future. You should be ashamed of your self to put $ over doing the right thing.
They are a fraud air line, they charged me for my child’s mild bottle bag as carry on USD 100, VAKA site has included in the cost but they yet charged me, started shouting at us for closing the gate if we don’t payTicket price does not include any bag, any bottle, not even a bottle of water… pay USD 100 for everything
We were flying from Las Vegas to Seattle and we did not like at all how we were treated at check in and boarding! Is the company intentionally denigrating people to discourage them from using the airline? There were enough companies in the past which paid dearly for denigrating their customers (E.g. Ryanair narrowly escaped by changing their procedures to more user friendly)
Checked my bag with them and when I got home I noticed that someone helped themselves to a carton of cigarettes. When I called and complained they had no interest in helping me out. Someone is a thief working in baggage. I would suggest if you check a bag make sure nothing is valuable. Nothing I hate more is a thief of my stuff. Worse airline I ever experienced.
STAY AWAY!!!! SPIRIT IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!! Wish I could’ve give ZERO stars! They will keep delaying your flight and then ultimately cancel it. This has happened twice. I was very weary the second time but believe in second chances. NOPE, NEVER again. All other airlines are on time so it only makes me think spirit pilots are incompetent. When they do decide to fly you, they ALWAYS delay multiple times.
Flight 1364 Orlando to Las Vegas initial departure 4:22 p.m. it is now 6:29 p.m. and we are still sitting on the tarmac??? I want a refund this is B.S..it's now 12:11 a.m. we made it to Portland finally now there is another plane and the gate we supposed to unboard at. (15 minutes and we are still waiting on a gate) Who tf is running this company?? Horrible operations, this has literally been the worst flight experience in my life and I fly 5-6 times per year...Spirit you SUCK!!
I think it's unfair that customers aren't able to change their flights without paying $120 dollars.I accidentally booked a flight for spirit for the wrong days and I don't think it's fair that they can't change the booking for free. It was a mistake.Other airlines allow their customers to change bookings for free or for a small fee. I won't be flying with Spirit again!
